Teaching
I am pleased to have been an educator at Sacramento State since 1990, where I have been able to help so many students who are diverse in background and preparation. For these reasons, I teach students as “whole people”. My core values in educating students are to build critical thinking, to provide an environment where learning is an active rather than a passive experience, and to strengthen communication skills. I believe in "Learning-by-Doing", and it is one of my greatest joys to see students mature as adults and scholars.

Evolutionary Psychology
Research Lab
The purpose of my Evolutionary Psychology Research Lab is to investigate the associations between life history events and behaviors such as risky sexual behavior, gambling, and substance misuse. We are also interested in the role that cognitive priming plays in triggering risky attitudes and intentions.
